Freelance Editing and Page Design Service
Services and Rates
I will focus on spelling, punctuation, grammar, word usage, sentence structure, and continuity within your writing.
Line editing involves going sentence by sentence, identifying problematic writing and offering suggestions for improvement, revision, and restructuring. While I'm at it, I will provide feedback on style, organization, strengths, weaknesses, and structure, as well as notes on plot and character development. I will not rewrite anything for you at this level, but will instead go over your work and make suggestions for you to review. This will give you something to go on when you go back over your work or manuscript.
Proofreading is a review of your final draft. If you've already gone through the copyediting process and you think you're ready to submit your work for publishing or self-publishing, then proofreading should be your next step.
When you send me your work, please send it in the appropriate format. I prefer pages with 1 inch margins all around and with the text double spaced in a 12-point font. I edit primarily in Microsoft Word using the 'track changes' feature and do all my layout and design work with Adobe InDesign.
Note: I am willing to edit manuscripts from all genres, but there are a few things that will lead me to decline a commission including:
I adore fantasy, particularly young adult fantasy.
If I don't feel that I am the right editor for your manuscript, I will let you know and do my best to direct you to someone whose skills may be more suited to the job.

Most useful to the self-publisher, my layout and design services focus on making the inside of your book look amazing. We'll go over formatting, fonts, chapter and heading styles, and image placement to create a beautifully organized, visually appealing book.
Transcription rates vary depending on whether you have sent me audio files, or handwritten or typed documents to work with.
